  • Several Former Cougars Win in Academic Decathlon

  • February 18th
  • Several former Culler students won medals at the Academic Decathlon Regional Competition. Cara Nickolaus, in the Honors Division, won a first place medal for both Music and Economics and a second place medal for Literature. She also was the Team Top Scorer. Ben Breckbill, also in the Honors Division, won first place in Art and second place in Math. In the Scholastic Division Max Wheeler and Lynnie Krause both placed third in the Math and Science, respectivably. Finally Clive Thomas finished second in the Varsity Division in Math.
  • Culler Placed Third in Science Bowl

  • Culler Middle School placed third in the 5th Annual Nebraska Middle School Science Bowl competition last week. They were edged out in the Semi-Finale round, on the last question, by Gretna who then went on to place second, losing to Lux on a tie-breaker question. In addition to the great showing by Culler Middle School, Culler Student Erica Elise Pribil won the "I'm Science Smart" medal for answering an astounding 33 questions in the round-robin competition. Congratulations Erica and the whole team!

  • Former Culler Students Awarded Scholarships

  • January 7th UNL announced their scholarship recipients for the 2008-2009 school year, and not surprisingly several former Culler students made the list
  • The Regents Scholarship is a full ride scholarship worth over $22,000 and was awarded to Jeffery Bohlken, Seth Lienemann and Huy To Nguyen.
  • The David Distinguished Scholar is a $1,000 annual scholarship for up to four years and was given to David Creger and Elektra Wrenholt.
  • Christopher Simley and Sahan Fernando were award the Canfield Scholarship which is a one year donation of $1,000.
  • And finally Minh Thu Tri Tran was awarded the $1,000 Nebraska Achievement with the possibility to renew it up to four years.
  • We would like to say congratulations to these former Cougars and wish them well.
  • Culler Student's Poem Published

  • Alica Carey wrote a poem first quarter and it has been selected to be published in a upcoming poetry anthology by the people at Poetry.com. In addition to this accomplishment she also was given an Editor's Choice award for her writing, so make sure you don't miss it.
