Culler Families!
Middle school is a pivotal time for students as they start to think about their future, develop new interests, and explore who they are. Research shows that middle schoolers thrive when they connect what they’re learning in school to their personal goals and future aspirations. By encouraging them to think big and consider their own “future self,” you can help foster a sense of purpose that will support them academically and personally. As the weather gets chillier, and we all feel the second quarter lull in motivation, try some of these strategies to help cultivate a more meaningful and lasting sense of motivation in your student:
By nurturing these connections, you’re helping your child see how their current efforts contribute to a bigger picture—building a foundation for a brighter and more motivated future.
AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) is an educational program that is designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college and beyond. This segment is meant for all Culler students and their families, not just those in the AVID Elective, so that every student can reap the benefits of successful habits and routines now, and in the future!
For more information, visit https://home.lps.org/curriculum/avid/ or reach out to our AVID Elective Instructor, Mx. Beatty via email (abeatty3@lps.org)

November is Native American Heritage Month – a time to honor a culture rich in resiliency, strength, and survivance. As November quickly approaches, let’s reflect on the importance of this month, celebrating Native culture, creativity, and continued perseverance. Additionally, the next time you visit Culler Middle School, please take a moment to read Culler Middle School’s Land Acknowledgement located in the red brick hallway – a daily, physical, recognition that Indigenous Peoples are the original stewards of the lands on which we now live, and whose legacy and history will not be forgotten.

Did you know not all screen time is the same? There is a significant difference between “active” screen time (engaging in focused production of content) and “passive” screen time (consuming entertainment media). The American Academy Of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends families have thoughtful conversations around the purposes for using digital media and offers an online tool for creating a “personalized family media use plan.” AAP Media Plan.

Parents/Guardians can easily send messages to their student’s teachers from right within ParentVUE. Clicking on the small “envelope” button next to a teacher’s (or other staff member’s) name anywhere within the platform (e.g., Current Schedule, School Information, Grade Book, etc.) will begin a draft message within Messages/Synergy Mail.
More information about messaging your student’s teachers can be found on the LPS ParentVUE Quick Guide.
We continue to send out referrals for any student that has not passed the screenings this Fall. Please call if you have any questions. Take the letters to your Dr and have them filled out and then return them to the Health Office for the students chart.
We are also continuing to track Immunization compliance so please, please bring us the immunization records after being seen so we can get our students compliant.
