There will be an open-house style informational session during Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 11th, 2025, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM. Come check out what the AVID effect can do for your scholar now and in the future!
In November, AVID students are exploring the idea of identity and community through the question, “What’s in a name?”
By reading “My Name” by Sandra Cisneros and listening to Indigenous perspectives on naming and belonging, students are examining how names connect us to culture, family, and history.
Through reflection and dialogue, they’re learning that our names tell stories—stories that deserve to be heard, respected, and celebrated. It’s part of AVID’s mission to help all students see the value of their voices and the communities they come from.
You can join in at home by sharing stories and the origins of their name and yours with them!
AVID (Achievement Via Individual Determination) is an educational program that is designed to help students develop the skills they need to be successful in college and beyond. This segment is meant for all Culler students and their families, not just those in the AVID Elective, so that every student can reap the benefits of successful habits and routines now, and in the future!

The mission of Culler Middle School’s counseling program is to advocate for ALL students which is demonstrated through forming positive connections and cultivating a sense of community. As professional school counselors, we will provide a comprehensive, data driven, developmentally-appropriate program that supports each student’s academic, prosocial, and career development.
The counseling team welcomes you to join our Advisory Council presentation during our next Parent Teacher Conferences night that will take place on November 11th. This is a great opportunity to learn more about what the counseling team does at Culler, learn about our annual student outcome goal, and ask any questions you may have for your student’s counselor. This advisory council presentation will take place from 4:30-5:00 PM so you will still have plenty of time to visit your student’s teachers during Parent Teacher Conferences. We hope to see you there!

LPS believes that effective instruction can and should include the appropriate use of instructional technology to support learning. To that end, a District Instructional Technology Tool (ITT) Committee works to identify ITTs that are safe for student use, support district learning goals, and encourage innovative teaching and learning. All reviewed ITTs are cataloged in the LPS ITT Matrix.
The most frequently used, approved, and supported ITTs are made available to students and staff in the LPS Portal. Students access their LPS Portal by clicking the ‘HOME’ button on their Chromebook.
Need a conversation starter with your student? Ask them for a tour of their LPS Portal and which ITTs they’re currently using in class.
The eduroam wireless network is more secure than most public wifi networks and is available in several locations around Lincoln. Students using their LPS Chromebooks around town should connect to eduroam whenever it is available. Simply select it from the list of available networks – no other steps needed! Visit this eduroam poster and/or LPS jump code: pao4 for more information.
Scenarios where eduroam may come in handy include:
